Riding Wood Features

ONE DAY COURSE FOR RIDING WOOD STRUCTURES! RIDERS OF ANY SKILL SET INVITED TO JOIN.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN HOW TO APPROACH FEATURES, ESCAPE SAFELY IF IT ALL GOES WRONG, AND COMPLETE THE FEATURE SUCCESSFULLY. SKILLS LEARNED WILL BE TRANSFERABLE TO THE TRAIL FEATURES FOUND ON SINGLETRACK.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN ABOUT BIKE/BODY SEPARATION, UN-WEIGHING THE BIKE AND STRONG BODY BALANCE. THERE’S MORE TO IT THAN JUST ROLLING OVER A WOOD LOG.

  • Bike Safety Inspection

  • Review - Position and Balance

  • Review - Operational Control (shifting / braking)

  • Bike / Body Separation (leaning / for-aft movements)

  • Manuals

  • Front / Rear Wheel Lifts


Extras

  • Riders will be split into smaller groups to rotate through the skill zones and features.

  • Features include (but not limited to) a slightly raised skinny, log rollers, small/med drops or rollers, a-frame.

  • Limiting to 25 riders - we like small groups to ensure the riders get high value of instruction.

  • Instructors & assists from Women on Wheels are either certified with PMBI or hold the requiried NCCP Community Trained status with the ABA.

What to Wear / Bring

  • Mountain Bike (hybrids / commuters are not appropriate)

  • Helmet (mandatory)

  • Clothing for the weather

  • Gloves (recommended)

  • Shoes (flat sole or clip, close toed)

  • Hydration pack / water bottle, personal snack

  • Sunscreen, Bug spray, Sunglasses

Cancellations / Refund Policy

  1. If the clinic is cancelled due to inclement weather, all paid participants will receive a full refund less $15 admin fee. Weather cancellation will be emailed to all participants by 11:00 am on the clinic date.

  2. Cancellations by Thursday, August 8 will receive a full refund less $15 admin fee. Cancellations past August 8 will not receive any refund. If you have to cancel, we recommend you may send someone in your place as long as they meet the age limit and bike requirements (see What to Wear/Bring).
