How long have you been riding?
I grew up riding bikes in the country. I spent hours exploring down gravel roads, quad trails and on pavement with friends. I bought my first hardtail mtn bike in 2002. Then mostly just biked as a mode of transportation. I started year round commuting in 2013. However, I didn’t really get into single track until 2017, when I finally upgraded my bike. I just didn’t know what I wanted? 29’ or 27.5’ wheels? Carbon or aluminum? Do I need a dropper post? And, of course, hardtail or full-suspension?
How did you learn to ride a mountian bike?
That’s just what we did as kids in the evenings and on weekends to play and discover new trails.
What is your favorite moment involving bikes so far?
Jumping into a fresh body of water, after a hard bike ride to recharge and rejuvenate are always memorable.
Why do you ride with Women on Wheels YEG?
With a background as a fitness trainer and yoga instructor, I enjoy all aspects of riding: the intensity, fitness, strength, skills, mindset and community that make the sport challenging and fun. It’s hard to imagine life without the freedom to roam endless trails on two wheels while taking in all of the sights, smells, adventure, laughter, and friendships.
What are you looking forward to most this year?
To me, riding bikes is an outlet for expression, a challenge and an adventure every day. I love being outside in nature and in flow state. I’d be lying if I didn’t also say, ‘getting new PR’s’.
