How long have you been riding?
I first tried mountain biking about 8 years ago. I have been regularly riding the sweet Edmonton single track for the past 4 years.
How did you learn to ride a mountain bike?
I had a fairly informal introduction to mountain biking. Basically, I learned a few basic tips and then was sent on my way to ride the trails. My first experience was on the trails of Elk Island, with my first taste of single track being in Jasper. I love going back to Jasper and seeing how much my skills have progressed each year! As a previous competitive Bi-athlete and Cross-Country Skier, I have loved learning a new skill and channeling my endurance energy into something new!
What is your favorite moment involving bikes so far?
How could I pick just one?! I love exploring the mountain trails and frequent the Canmore Nordic Center. The past two summers I made way through BC to New Denver and rode the flowy Galena Trail. Basically, I love any long mountain rides!
Why do you ride with Women on Wheels YEG?
I ride WOW YEG because it is such an amazing, supportive group of ladies. There is a great sense of community, with a really chill atmosphere. I have improved my riding ability, while being able to support the other great women in this great group!
What are you looking forward to most this year?
I'm looking forward to meeting new riders this year! I love that I get the chance to share my passion for the sport with other new riders. As someone that only learned to ride a few years ago, I understand what it's like to challenge yourself and push your boundaries. And of course, as someone that comes from a competitive endurance background, I am always looking to improve and work on my riding skills and speed.
